PEOPLE & COMPANIES Schnabel Engineering announced that Paul E. Diggs, P.E., will serve as p r e s i d e n t f o r t h e American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) of Virginia for 2016-2017. Diggs will succeed Benjamin A. Lilly, P.E., of Hankins & Anderson, who served for 2015-2016. As the branch leader of Schnabel’s Richmond Metroplex offices, Diggs manages the operations of office locations in Richmond, Charlottesville and Newport News, Va. He is also an active member of the Urban Land Institute (ULI), Associated General Contractors (AGC), Virginia Association of Counties (VACo), Virginia Municipal League (VML) and has served as the chairman of the Planning Commission and on the School Board for the Town of West Point, Va. Richard D. MacDonald Jr., senior vice president and division manager for the construction division of Weeks Marine, was elected to serve as presi- dent of The Moles for the year 2016/2017. He assumed the role from retiring president, James M. Marquardt, at the annual business meeting and dinner held on May 4, 2016, at The New York Hilton Midtown. MacDonald received his B.S. in civil engineering in 1981. In 2000, he joined Weeks Marine as vice president of operations for the construction division and became senior vice president and division manager in 2004. He is responsible for projects along the East Coast, Gulf Coast, Latin America and the Caribbean Sea. Other officers elected to The Moles were: first vice president, Christopher S. Quanta Subsurface is a new organization within the Quanta Services Group, which includes Brink Constructors, BWI, Can- Fer, Crux Subsurface, Irby Construction, Northstar, Longfellow Drilling, M.J. Drilling and Sharp’s Construction. The group companies provide a range of geo- structural engineering services. Four members of Crux Subsurface’s executive management team have moved to Quanta Sub- surface in leadership roles. Nick Salisbury, presi- dent, has been working in the geotechnical drilling industry for more than 25 years, pioneering a number of patented materials and processes employed in foundation design and construction. Mark Neu- pert, CFO, has over 20 years of experience in the financial services industry, including corporate finance, risk man- agement and acquisitions. Steve Davidow, P.E., P.Eng, S.E, vice president of engineering, has over 15 years of experience in the design and construction of super- structures and deep foun- dation systems. Balin Strickler, P.G., P.M.P, vice president of business development, has more than 15 years of experi- ence in geostructural engi- neering and geotechnical construction. McMillen Jacobs Associ- ates announced the addi- tion of several key staff. Mark Funkhouser, P.E., joined the Cleveland office as a principal. He has 30 years of international experience specializing in geotechnical and rock mechanics engineering. Peter Raleigh, C.Eng, P.Eng, returns to McMillen Jacobs Associates as a lead associate in the Cleveland office. He recently served as con- struction manager on the Green Line Underground project in Doha, Qatar, and has more than 23 years of experi- ence in tunnel engineer- ing. James Wonneberg, P.E., CCM, joined the Seattle office as a lead associate, providing support to WSDOT as resident engineer on the SR 99 Alaskan Way Viaduct Replacement Project. Brian Laush, lead associate, also joined the SR 99 Alaskan Way Viaduct Replacement Project, providing project controls. Doug Grimes, P.Geo, PMP, joined the firm’s Vancouver office as an associate. Grimes has over 25 years of experi- ence in technical and project management roles on hydropower, dam safety, mining, water supply, environ- mental and reclamation projects. Jae Bateman, CP, joined the Sydney office as an associate focusing on major tunneling works in Australia.
