EDUCATIONAL TRUST New Trust Board Member Judith Gorog-Petit was elected to serve a two-year term on the DFI Educational Trust Board of Trustees. Gorog- Petit is currently CFO of Skyline Steel LLC, sub- sidiary of Nucor Steel in Parsippany, N.J. Prior to joining Skyline Steel, her 20-year career in finance included the position of CFO of French company Ugitech SA (formerly a member of the Arcelor Group) and controller of J&L Specialty Steel. Gorog-Petit attended the Academy of Economic Studies, Bucharest, Romania, and earned her B.S. and M.S. degrees from the Université of Liège, Belgium. She is a former member of the Romanian National ski team and is currently a nationally- ranked triathlete. First John O’Malley Scholarship The first John O’Malley Scholarship, in the amount of $5,000, has been awarded to Jennifer Kubeczko, who is pursuing an M.S. in geotechnical engineer- ing at the University of Cal i fornia, Berkeley. Kubeczko earned a B.S. in c ivi l and ma t e r i a l s engineering from the University of Illinois at Chicago. Following graduation, she worked as a project engineer at Pioneer Environmental Services on both geotechnical engineering projects and construction material testing services. James Munson accepting award from Michael Wysockey Wysockey Dinner Raises $37,000 This year, the Thomas J. Wysockey Scholar- ship Fundraising Dinner took place on July 16, at the Union League Club of Chicago. The dinner, attended by 140 guests, raised $37,000 to benefit the Thomas Wysockey Civil Engineering Scholarship Fund. The fund, which provides scholarships to civil engineering students, honors Thomas J. Wysockey, chairman emeritus of Thatcher Foundations Inc. This year’s recipient, James Munson, a junior at The Citadel, was present to accept the $5,000 award in person. More than 40 applications were received from students attending univer- sities across the U.S. Six students were selected. The six recipients, each receiving a $2,000 scholarship, are: Youssef Bouga- taya, a graduate student at Oregon State University; Anthony DiGiantommaso, a junior at the University of Rhode Island; Alicia Fortier, a graduate student at Louisiana State University; Dallas Rolnick, a senior at the University of New Orleans; Paul Smith, a graduate student at the University of Kentucky, and Henry Was- singer, a senior at Penn State – Harrisburg. At-Large Scholarships can be used for tuition, fees, books and/or educational living expenses. Applicants must be enrolled full time in a U.S. college or university; be pursuing a graduate or undergraduate degree in an accredited civil, geotechnical engineering or related deep foundations curriculum; and have a minimum 3.0 GPA. Annual PA Golf Outing is a Success The annual PA Golf Outing took place on July 20 at Chartiers Country Club in Pittsburgh, Pa.
