DFI44 Update The DFI 44 Annual Conference on Deep Foundations is being held on October 15-18, 2019, at the Hilton Chicago. The Technical Program Committee selected > Future > Forward > as the theme for the conference, being promoted under the social media hashtag #DFI44. Dhooli Raj, P.E., project manager at Collins Engineers, is the th conference chair, assisted by Program Co-chairs Ray Franz, P.E., D.GE, vice-president of Hayward Baker, and Cassandra J. Rutherford, Ph.D., P.E., assistant professor in the department of civil, construction and environmental engineering at Iowa State University. This conference serves a call to action to develop forward- thinking plans in deep foundation and geotechnical engineering and construction through technical presentations and panel discussions. The 2019 Annual Conference provides an international forum for a wide range of geo-professionals to present, discuss and debate all aspects of how we build on our current success to create and maintain a better tomorrow for future generations. Abstracts for technical papers and panel sessions are being accepted through Friday, December 14, 2018, at www.dfi.org/ Annual2019. Abstracts for papers are requested for traditional deep foundation and geotechnical topics with a focus on a safe and sustainable future with respect to technology, safety, equipment, workforce and case studies including the following and similar topics: • Crawl, Walk, Run: Improving Future Practice • Developments in Safe Geo-Construction • The Digital Future • Efficient Deep Foundations, Earth Retention Systems and Ground Improvement • The Future of Urban Development/Redevelopment • The Future of Work: Progress in Our Industry • 21st Century Infrastructure Needs In addition to the technical program, the conference includes keynote lectures; the Hal Hunt Lecture on Communications; Manufacturers, Suppliers and Service Providers Sessions; networking opportunities; a Student Activities Program; the City- by-City Companions’ Program; and more than 150 exhibits featuring new and innovative products and services.
