Li, C.Eng., P.Eng., Nadir Ansari, P.Eng., D.GE., and Brian W. Wilson, C.Eng. P.Eng. A hybrid cutter soil mixing (CSM) shoring system was constructed for the temporary support of a five-level basement excavation in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. CSM was installed as infill panels between the soldier piles, and reinforced shotcrete was used as lagging below the base of the CSM panels. Three levels of tieback anchors were installed to provide lateral support to the shoring system. 71 Member Profile — Manny Fine: A Straight Shot to the Top COVER STORY 14 2017 OPA Winner, Tri-Pod Suction Buckets for Offshore Wind Turbine Foundation ® Executive Director Theresa Engler, [email protected] Executive Editor Dr. Antonio Marinucci, M.B.A., P.E. As part of a 2.5GW offshore wind farm in the southwestern sea off the Korean peninsula, this was the first wind turbine that used tri- pod suction buckets as its subsurface foundation, which consisted of cylindrical steel buckets each having a diameter of 20 ft and a length of 39 ft. Instrumentation used to monitor the installation indicated that the entire assembly was installed with a final tilt less than about 0.02 degrees from vertical.
