EDUCATIONAL TRUST Survey of Trust Scholarship Recipients In order to assess the impact of its programs, the DFI Educational Trust, since 2013, con- ducts a yearly survey of past scholarship recipients who graduated the previous year. The survey asks whether or not the student graduated as planned, found a job, and if so, whether that job is in the deep foundations industry. We recently completed a survey of recipients that had indicated they would graduate in June 2015. Eighty-two percent responded to the survey. Of those respondents, 86 percent graduated on time as scheduled, the remainder expect to grad- uate in 2017. Eighty-three percent of those who graduated have jobs, the remainder are attending graduate school. Finally, 70 percent of those who are employed indicated that they are working for employers in the deep foundations industry, overwhelmingly for vari- ous types of geotechnical engi- neering firms, with 20 percent employed by contractors. These findings are a clear indication that the Trust’s mission, “to support and encourage students in the fields of studies related to the deep foundations industry by providing scholarships,” is being fulfilled. New Jersey Golf Outing The DFI Educational Trust and ACE Mentor Program of NJ Golf Outing at the Royce Brook Golf Club in August raised over $16,000. There were 70 golfers at the event, which annually raises scholarship funds to support students studying toward careers in the deep foundations, architecture, engi- neering and construction industries.
