The board of directors for Geosyntec Consultants elected Peter Zeeb, Ph.D., P.G., as president and CEO of the firm. Zeeb succeeds Rudolph Bonaparte, Ph.D., P.E., who served in that role for the last 20 years. Zeeb received his Ph.D. in environmental engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and his M.S. in the same field from Stanford. Bonaparte will serve as chairman of the board and as a practicing professional in the firm as well as professor of practice at the Georgia Institute of Technology. Independence Tube Corporation announced that it has entered into an agreement to sell the company to Nucor Steel. Founded in 1972 in a 53,000 sq ft facility on the southwest side of Chicago, Independence Tube has grown to 1.7 million sq ft with two manufacturing div- isions in Illinois (Chicago and Marseilles) and two manufacturing divisions in Alabama (Decatur and Trinity) producing tube and pipe products to ASTM standards. Tectonic Engineering & Surveying Con- sultants, a multidisciplined engineering firm headquartered in New York’s Hudson Valley, has been placed number 86 on the 2016 Zweig Group Hot Firm List. Nicholson Construction Company’s New York regional office is now located at 550 Broad Street, Suite 603, in Newark, N.J. Skanska signed a $399 million contract with the Florida Department of Trans- portation to replace the existing bridge over Pensacola Bay with two new, three- lane bridges, connecting the cities of Pensacola and Gulf Breeze. The total project length is 3.7 mi (6 km), including the roadway approaches on each end of the bridges. GeoStructures announced the completion of the ground improvement work for the Chancery of Morocco in Washington, D.C. The project challenges included: steep slopes, tight site, foundation on three benches and varying fill depths.
