INVITATION TO SPEAKERS AND CALL FOR PAPERS Technical committees of DFI and ADSC will combine their industry expertise to organize SuperPile ’17. This three-day event will include presentations on the latest developments in augered cast- in-place/drilled displacement piles, drilled shafts, driven piles, ground improvement, helical piles and tiebacks, marine foundations, micropiles, testing and evaluation of foundation systems, and seismic and lateral loads. Invi ted and selected presentat ions wi l l highl ight advancements, innovations and challenges in design and construction of deep foundations, particularly related to piling solutions. Presentations that highlight best practices for project safety from design through construction will be preferred, and national and international case histories and topics relevant to the Southern California area are encouraged. Panel discussions on current topics will provide attendees opportunities to share new ideas and industry experience. Equipment, material and instrumentation suppliers, contractors, engineers, and other vendors will present their services in the Exhibit Hall. Proposal Submission DFI is soliciting presentations for SuperPile ’17 on the following topics: • Projects relevant to the Southern California area • Augered cast-in-place and drilled displacement piles • Drilled shafts • Driven piles • Ground improvement (related to piling) • Helical piles and tiebacks • Marine foundations • Micropiles • Seismic and lateral loads • Testing and evaluation Topics and case histories related to safety are encouraged, including (but not limited to): • Designing for safety • Driven pile safety • Procedures for reinforcing steel/cage lifting • Working platforms • Safety considerations for marine projects • Drill rig and crane safety • Instrumentation, load testing, monitoring • Safety culture (management, personnel, communication, training) • Reaction to extreme or unexpected conditions (inclement weather, flooding, seismic, etc.) Potential speakers for SuperPile ’17 should submit a brief abstract (up to 300 words) describing the content of their proposed presentations. Notification of acceptance or declination will be returned to all authors no later than Friday, January 20, 2017. Guidelines for presentation development will be provided to accepted speakers at that time. Authors will be required to commit to presenting their topic at the conference and to submitting a PowerPoint presentation to be included on the conference proceedings website by Friday, May 19, 2017. Though full papers are not required for this conference, accepted authors are invited to develop their abstracts into technical papers for consideration by the editors of the DFI Journal or Deep Foundations magazine for a future issue.
