New Seepage Control and Remediation Track at Conference The 2016 DFI Annual Conference on Deep Foundations is introducing a new technical track featuring seepage control and remediation for dam and levee projects worldwide in addition to the technical program on deep foundations and earth retention. To reflect this addition, the name of next year’s Annual Conference has been changed to the DFI International Conference on Deep Foundations, Seepage Control and Remediation. The event will take place on October 12-15, 2016, at the New York Marriott Marquis in New York City, located in the heart of Times Square. This conference is anticipated to have record- breaking attendance. It will provide an international forum for a wide range of geoprofessionals to gather together to present, discuss and debate all aspects and current challenges pertaining to the advancement of the deep foundation, earth retention, and seepage control and remediation industries. The additional track on the specialty topic of seepage control and remediation will provide cutting-edge information on technologies for ground improvement and seepage remediation, dam and levee design and construction guidance for controlling seepage, best practices in dam and levee safety risk assessment and management, and the latest research on internal erosion and piping mechanisms. The technical program will focus on planning and mitigation, design and construction, project delivery, communication and training, incorporation of emerging technologies, data management, risk and liability, and advancements for deep foundation and earth retention systems. The meeting will also include a day of technical committee and working group meetings, networking breakfasts, breaks and receptions, the traditional Welcome and Business Meeting Lunches, Women in Deep Foundations networking reception, Hal Hunt Lecture and the Annual Awards Banquet, plus over 100 exhibits featuring new and innovative products and services. Leading the organizing committee as conference co-chairs are Dr. Antonio Marinucci, MBA, P.E., consultant, and David Paul, P.E., of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
