The design/build contractor is German company, Züblin Spezialtiefbau GmbH, together with its Swedish subsidiary Züblin Scandinavia AS. 82 Restoration of the U.S. Route 209 Landslide Ed Laczynski, P.E., Mounir Abouzakhm, P.E., and Mohammed Elias, Ph.D., P.E. In October 2011, the NPS reported a major landslide at the Milepost 15 Section of U.S. Route 209 above the Delaware River in the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area. A new anchored soldier pile and lagging retaining wall was constructed to safeguard the road and trail. The construction encountered many challenges such as short schedule, environmental restrictions that limited site access, site geology that impeded drilling, and proximity to the slope edge. 67 Hollow Bars: Landmark Technology Mary Ellen Bruce, P.E., D.GE.
