EDUCATIONAL TRUST Trust Board Meets During WPM The DFI Educational Trust Board of Trustees had its first meeting of this year during the DFI Winter Planning Meeting (WPM), held in Clearwater Beach, Fla., February 20-22. This was also the first meeting presided by Tracy Brettmann, P.E., D.GE, the new chair of the board. Since the WPM serves as the Trust’s organizational meeting for the year, the new officers were officially installed: • Chair: Tracy Brettmann, P.E., D.GE, A.H. Beck Foundation Co. • Vice Chair: Rudolph (Rudy) Frizzi, P.E., G.E., D.GE, Langan Engineering and Environmental Services • Treasurer: Gianfranco Di Cicco, Bauer Foundation Corp. • Secretary: Zoran (Zac) Curanovic, P.E., Underpinning & Foundation Skanska During the meeting, the board reviewed the year-end financials for 2018 and discussed and allocated the amount available for scholarships in 2019. Various fundraising initiatives were also discussed. New Venue and Chair for PA Golf This year, the Pennsylvania Golf Outing will be held at a new venue — the Montour Heights Country Club Golf Course located just outside of Pittsburgh and only a few miles from the Pittsburgh International Airport. The Dye Design Golf Course is an 18-hole championship golf course that stretches across 6,632 yards from the black tees. This year’s event also has a new chair, Roy Kern, CEO, Equipment Corporation of America (ECA). Kern has been with ECA for more than 30 years, 18 of which were spent as president and CEO. He earned his degree in mechanical engineering at Penn Cornell University. The 14 Pennsylvania Golf Outing is being held on July 29. Proceeds from the event benefit student scholarship funds at Penn State University and University of Pittsburgh.
