Upcoming Events – Save the Dates DFI I The DFI Energy Foundations Seminar, taking place September 18 at the University of Illinois – Chicago, focuses on Practical Construc- tion Aspects of Designing, Installing and Operating a Ground- Sourced Heat Pump Solution Connected to Energy Foundations. Speakers will detail good practice guidelines for designing and installing a ground-sourced heat pump solution that uses geothermal loops installed within energy foundations and structures. Presen- tations will discuss the importance and benefits of long-term man- agement and operation of such a system to ensure that the system delivers the designed heating and/or cooling loads and can be optimized to enhance returns on investment to make a project more attractive. Who should attend? • Local developers • Facility managers of hospitals • Educational facilities • Local government representatives • Architects • Consultants (geotechnical, structural, mechanical and electrical) For more information or to register visit www.dfi.org/energy18. I DFI IGS Ahmedabad Chapter ® 8 Conference on Deep Foundation Technologies for Infrastructure Registration is open for DFI-India 2018: 8 Conference on Deep Foundations Technologies for Infrastructure Development in India being held November 15-17, 2018, at IIT Gandhinagar, Gujarat, India. DFI of India is hosting the two-day conference in collaboration with Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar and Indian Geotechnical Society Ahmedabad Chapter. India is preparing to make significant investments in th infrastructure projects. The conference is a common platform for all stakeholders in the deep foundations industry to present, deliberate and debate case studies and the challenges facing India’s geotechnical works for infrastructure projects. Presentations will showcase proactive solutions that optimize performance of deep foundations for various infrastructure projects by achieving enhanced time and cost efficiency, higher quality and safety. The program highlights recommended project and contract management practices to identify and mitigate risk through the use of modern methods, tools, and data acquisition. A one-day workshop precedes the conference. Visit www.dfi.org/india2018 for more information and to register as an attendee, exhibitor or underwriter. DFI-India 2018: November 15-17, 2018 th Development in India IIT Gandhinagar, Gujarat, India | www.dfi.org/india2018 HPW-DFI Helical Piles-Tiebacks-Anchors ® Tradeshow and Educational Seminar Hamilton County Fairgrounds in Cincinnati, OH Tuesday and Wednesday June 4-5, 2019 Helical Pile World (HPW) and Deep Foundations Institute (DFI) are teaming up to develop an event that showcases the helical pile and tieback industry’s dedication to producing high-quality foundation solutions that are safe, reliable and cost effective for a variety of foundation and utility application challenges. The event will include a technical education program, an equipment exposition, and live installation demonstrations that highlight the products, resources and expertise used to design, install and test helical pile and anchor elements for structural support and earth retention applications. A structured program is being developed comprising indoor classroom sessions and outdoor exhibit and demonstration sessions to provide a range of educational opportunities. The indoor technical presentations will complement the field activities in the outdoor exhibits to provide a full educational program. • Review on-site soils information to define design parameters • Learn fundamental design procedures used to estimate capacity • Watch small- to large-diameter helical piles and anchors being installed using safe construction techniques, and learn proper inspection methods • See load test set ups for compression (static and dynamic, tension and lateral load tests • Observe as load tests are conducted and compare design values to capacity-to-torque predictions to actual load test results • Visit with the exhibitors to learn about the latest innovations in installation and testing equipment and services Targeted Audience Targeted attendees include contractors, engineers, building officials, utility and transportation professionals, civil engineering professors and civil engineering students. Cincinnati is geographically located within a two-hour drive of large metropolitan areas including Indianapolis, Columbus, Louisville and Lexington. Additionally, Chicago, Detroit, St. Louis, Nashville, Pittsburgh and Cleveland are all within a 5- to 6-hour drive. Targeted exhibitors include helical pile and anchor manufacturers and distributors, installation contractors and equipment manufacturers, pile testing service companies, and engineering service companies If you are interested in getting involved in this event by volunteering to work on the program committee or committing to exhibit, contact Bill Bonekemper at (513) 386-8158 or [email protected].
