He joined Schnabel’s Greensboro, N.C. office nearly 10 years ago as a senior staff engineer, and holds a B.S. in civil engineering from the New Jersey Institute of Technology. Indri specializes in the structural evaluation and design of hydraulic structures and has been the lead design engineer for a variety of dam rehabilitations, new dams and dam construction projects. His expertise includes finite element modeling and structural analysis. GEI Consultants announced the expansion of its leadership team with the election of four senior vice presidents. Giovanni Bonita, Ph.D., P.E., P.G., geostructural practice leader in GEI’s Washington, D.C. office, has over 21 years of experience in complex underground structures, retaining systems, geological and geophysical investigations, and deep foundations. Ileen S. Gladstone, P.E., LSP, LEED AP, environmental practice leader in the Boston office, has over 31 years of experience in the redevelopment of contaminated properties. Alberto Pujol, P.E., G.E., geotech/water resources practice leader, working out of the Oakland office, has over 35 years of experience in the rehabilitation or replacement of existing infrastructure, including levees, dams, pipelines, roads, tunnels and impoundments. Michael J. Wheeler, P.E., geotechnical practice leader from GEI’s Green Bay office, has 27 years of experience in geotechnical engineering and mine tailings basin design and planning. Duane Bents has joined GeoStructures as South- e a s t regiona l s a l e s engineer. Bents has 13 years of experience as a geotechnical consultant and received his B.S. in civil and environmental engineering and M.S. in geotechnical engineering from Virginia Tech. Bents will assist industry engineers and clients by evaluating technologies to help overcome subsurface challenges. Equipment Corporation of America named John Devine Midwest regional sales manager. He will manage all of the firm’s product lines in Western Indiana, Michigan, Illinois, Wisconsin, Iowa and Minnesota. Devine has 25 years of construction equipment sales experience in his coverage area. His specialties include sales management, branch management, and territory and product line expansion in both distribution and manufacturing. ECA also hired Gordian Ulrich as engineering sales manager. He will be responsible for BAUER technical applications and advancement of i t s available technology in the Eastern U.S. and Canada. Ulrich graduated from Karlsruhe Institute of Technology in Germany. Aaron Evans, cur rent bus ines s development manager for Nicholson’s Mid- Atlantic region, will lead the company’s efforts as the Chicago area manager. Evans has been with Nicholson for the past nine years and has successfully led or been part of some of the company’s largest projects, including Second Avenue Subway in New York City and McCook Reservoir in Willow Springs, Ill. Komurka, P.E., D.GE, from Wagner Komurka Geotechnical Group presented on “Pile Driving Design and Installation” at the February PDCA (Pile Driving Contractors Association) Northeast meeting at the Iberia restaurant in Newark, N.J. Komurka explored innovative, value- added aspects of driven pile design and installation, and ways to substantially reduce construction cost, risk and time. Atlas Pipe Piles was a sponsor for this event. The PDCA Northeast Pile Driving Professionals Developmental Course was offered free to members of both PDCA National and PDCA Northeast chapter, and included an introduction to the pile driving profession, communication, pile driving aspects, safety, units of measurement /conversion factors, project management, hammer components, geotechnical aspects and much more. GRL Engineers opened its 10th branch office in the Houston metropolitan area. The office is staffed by Brandon Phetteplace, P.E., and managed by Camilo Alvarez, P.E., who together will bring more than 22 years of experience in dynamic testing and quality assurance methods for deep foundations to the Texas market. Both Phetteplace and Alvarez hold master level certificates on the PDCA/PDI Dynamic Measurement and Analysis Proficiency Test. Alvarez has an M.S. in civil engineering from Case Western Reserve University and is a registered professional engineer in multiple states.
