PEOPLE & COMPANIES Nicholson Construction Company sadly announces the death of Roger Baldwin, 52, after a brave battle with pancreatic cancer. Baldwin was a part of the geotechnical industry for almost 30 years, and part of the Nicholson family for almost 16 years. He was known for being tough but fair, extremely passionate about his work, and incredibly loyal to the company and to its people. He was a leader, a mentor and a good friend to many. He is survived by his wife Suzann and four children. Dr. Conrad W. Felice, managing principal of C.W. Felice, has been elected a Fellow of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE). The designation represents a recognized level of professional distinction and achievement. Fewer than 3.5% of ASCE members hold this prestigious honor. Dr. Felice is a current trustee of DFI, chair of the TRB tunnels and structures committee, a member of the ASCE commi t tee on underground engineering and construction, and serves as a member and vice chair on the industry advisory committee for the department of mining engineering at the Colorado School of Mines in Golden, Colo. ENR New York honored a group of young profes- sionals working across the region’s design and con- struction sectors who are making an impact on their employers and clients. DFI member Jared Green of Langan was one of 20 Top Young Professionals selected by a panel of judges. Green has spent his entire 14-year career at Langan, rising from staff engineer to his current position as senior associate and vice president. His New York projects include VIA 57 West, 590 Fulton Street and the five- tower Riverside Center development. Green is also involved in the firm’s center for technical excellence, a continuing educa- tion program. He participates in mentoring programs for Langan and for his alma mater, Syracuse University. After over 40 years of service to the Trevi Group, Ricardo Petrocelli has resigned as chairman of the board of Treviicos Corp. to start activities as an independent consultant. Petrocelli began his career at Trevi Argentina as an assistant project manager, where he rose to general manager. He then spent 14 years working for the North American operations, first as area manager and then as president and CEO of Treviicos until 2010. For the past six years, Petrocelli has been the chairman of the board for Treviicos. He also served as president of TreviGeos Limitada in Brazil, and as legal coordinator and contractual advisor of Drillmec, the oil and gas com- pany of the Trevi Group. Gazzale has more than 35 years of experience in public and private sector projects and is assistant department head for the geotechnical division. His experience includes the determination of appropriate methods and procedures for subsurface investigations, soil and rock testing, slope stability, foundation design and analysis, and construction engineering. Gazzale earned an A.S. in civil engineering from Middlesex County College and a B.S.C.E. and an M.S. in geotechnical engineering from the New Jersey Institute of Technology. He is a licensed engineer in New Jersey, Connecticut, New York and Pennsylvania and a professional land surveyor in New Jersey. GEC-12 updates and replaces the previous Design and Construction of Driven Pile Foundations documents published in 2006. The two-volume compendium covers a range of topics from subsurface exploration and laboratory testing to static, dynamic and rapid load tests; pile driving equipment and technical specifications are also included, along with a companion third volume of examples.
