The DFI Ground Improvement Committee prepared this guidance document to improve the consistency of specifications for ground improvement work. The purpose of this document is to help owners prepare specifications that provide broad performance criteria and design details so that contractors can offer bids that reflect the best-fit ground improvement technique for each project’s needs. 79 Expanding the Panama Canal – A Wider Path Between the Seas Colombo Biserna and Marco Chiarabelli The expansion of the Panama Canal is one of the 25 biggest and boldest projects on the planet this decade, according to an article by Tim Newcomb in Popular Mechanics. The Trevi Group conducted soil investigations and installed foundation piles, diaphragm walls and injection walls for a wide variety of functions and at various locations along the 80 km (49.7 mi) long Panama Canal that connects the Atlantic Ocean to the Pacific Ocean.
