Using a secant pile top-down approach allowed commercial river traffic to continue during construction. TECHNICAL FEATURE: 45 Threading Piles through London’s Congested Underground An unusual D-shaped pile helped Buro Happold and Bauer Keller penetrate London’s underground maze of subways, utilities and foundations to make space for the foundation of a large above-ground development project.
