Maniscalco, P.E. and Evangelia S. Ieronymaki, Ph.D. This article summarizes the construction and performance of a braced secant pile wall that served as the support of excavation during construction of two below-grade basement levels for a multistory building in NYC. An adjacent 25-story residential building provided a challenge during the installation of the west secant wall. A comparison of inclinometer measurements to 2D FE analysis predictions is also presented. 83 DFI Panel Discusses Challenges Facing Deep Foundations for U.S. Power Grid The discussion of a panel session titled Foundations that occurred during the DFI 43 Annual Conference on Deep Foundations in Anaheim, Calif., in October 2018 is summarized. The discussion highlighted the potential and realized deficiencies in the design, research and construction of electric power system foundations by different stakeholders associated with these deep foundations projects.
