required). Attendees who would like to be certified must also attend the full course. Case histories will highlight practical civil and mining shotcrete applications. Field demonstrations include: New Course and Certification The DFI Tunneling and Underground Committee is hosting a Shotcrete Short Course, September 9-11, 2019, at the historical Argo Mill in Idaho Springs, Colo. This 2.5-day course features the most current information on the proper design, placement and quality assurance of shotcrete used for civil and geotechnical, underground construction, shaft/tunnel, and mining projects. The course information presents processes that meet the requirements of ACI (American Concrete Institute), and also presents EFNARC (European Federation of National Associations Representing producers and applicators of specialist building products for Concrete) robotic application technique. The program includes indoor educational sessions on design procedures, mix proportioning, materials handling and storage, equipment requirements, ACI Codes and specifications, construction, inspection, QA/QC, measurement and payment, and field demonstrations showcasing manual and robotic spraying techniques and quality control. EFNARC Nozzleman written and practical certification assessments are offered (separate registration • Types of equipment • Batching and mixing • Dry and wet shotcrete applications • Vertical and overhead spraying • Robotic arm spraying • EFNARC simulator and certification The course is directed by Ray Henn, Ph.D., RW Henn, and Dan Millette, MacLean with networking events hosted by Shotcrete Technologies, Normet and BASF. Networking events include a reception and tour of Argo Tunnel and Mill, a former gold mining property dating from the early 1900s, a reception and tour of the Idaho Springs Visitor Center and Museum, and a networking lunch at Tommy Knockers with a tour of the Underhill Museum. This course is intended for industry professionals including owners, planners, designers, contractors, consultants and sup- pliers involved in the design, planning and construction of civil and geotechnical engineering and underground tunneling and mining projects.
