Join us for DFI’s 44 Annual Conference on Deep Foundations (#DFI44) at the Hilton Chicago! This conference is a call to action to develop forward-thinking plans in geotechnical engineering through technical presentat ions and panel discussions. The 2019 Annual Conference provides an international forum for a wide range of geo-professionals to present, discuss and debate all aspects of how we build on our current success to create and maintain a better tomorrow for us and future generations. th Student Activities Program Led by May ElKhattab, P.E., ENV SP, of Arup, the Student Activities Committee has planned a program with several opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students to network and socialize with industry professionals and attend technical presentations at the conference. A career fair and a tour of notable Chicago engineering and architectural sites are features of the program. Student registration is $100 for the entire conference, which includes registration materials, access to the student program and technical presentations, networking breakfasts and breaks in the exhibit hall, access to the online proceedings of the conference, and more. Lunch and Learn Workshop DFI’s third installment in its annual Lunch and Learn Workshop is being developed by the Conference Organizing Committee. The workshop is being held on Tuesday, October 15, during the Technical Commit- tee Meetings lunch break. Workshop attendees will learn practical skills they can apply during their career as a deep foun- dations industry professional. Stay tuned to www.dfi.org/Annual2019 for details. DFI Legends Awards Every four years, DFI and the DFI Educa- tional Trust honor three practitioners — an engineer, contractor and manufacturer/ supplier — who have made significant contributions and advancements to the research, design, construction, manufac- turing and use of deep foundations through the DFI Legends Awards. Congratulations to the 2019 winners, who will be honored at the Annual Conference. Engineering Legend: Bengt H. Fellenius Bengt H.
