Subsurface Constructors opened a new satellite office in Minneapolis, Minn. Gary Hahn, P.E., was recently hired as the business development manager of the North Central Region, covering primarily Minnesota, Wisconsin, North and South Dakota. With a business development manager and geotechnical/ structural engineer in this region, Subsurface can better support engineers, contractors and owners in the decision- making process for soft soil construction projects. After graduating from the University of Minnesota, Hahn worked in geotechnical consulting and special inspections and construction materials testing for nearly four years in Milwaukee, Wis., and Minneapolis, Minn. From 2013 until early 2018, Hahn worked as a structural design engineer and project manager in Minneapolis. The following DFI members were inducted into The Moles during its Members’ Dinner on May 7: Les Chernauskas of Geosciences Testing & Research, Bernie Hertlein of GEI Consultants, Fred Rhyner of Mueser Rutledge Consulting Engineers and Steve Hinterneder. Also during the dinner, long- time DFI and Moles member Tony Mazzo, pres ident of Urban Foundat ion/ Engineering, received the Ralph Atwater Moles Service Award. The award recognizes a member’s outstanding support of Moles programs, many of which are dedicated to encouraging students to seek careers in the heavy construction industry. The Moles Moles New Members accomplish that through its education outreach including construction site tours and scholarships for engineering students. Mazzo has sup-ported these programs, dedicating much of his time and talents over the years. Bhuvne sh J . (B. J . ) Parekh, P.E., LSRP, has joined GZA as a senior consultant in its Fairfield, N.J. office. He is focusing on environmental engi- neering and remediation. Parekh has more than 20 years of extensive experience in management, environmental consulting, soil and groundwater remediation, engineering and construction management. He graduated from Bombay University with a B.S. degree in chemistry and received M.S. degrees in environmental science and bioresources engineering from Rutgers University. Parekh is a licensed professional engineer and a licensed site remediation professional in New Jersey. CZM Foundation Equip- ment announced the appointments of William Johnson as service mana- ger and Ward Black as parts and service represen- tative. Johnson, who has been with CZM for six years, most recently as a product support manager, oversees technical support, rental fleet support, war- ranty support and machine mobilization. Black oversees technical support, parts sales, service plans, repairs and service sales. He was previously quality control supervisor and has been in both the field and production for the past five years. ALLU launched its new ALLU Mobile Application, which provides an intelligent digital solution for customers to get accurate and timely information regarding safe operation at job sites and use of their ALLU equipment. The mobile app will retrieve relevant data to customers’ specific equipment, such as a description of the product — including frame and drums — and information about the matching base machine. The app notes specific appli- cations for the model, and provides access to relevant pictures and videos, as well as operational, installation, troubleshooting and safety guides. During its in-house exhibition in April, the BAUER Maschinen Group welcomed more than 1,800 visitors from all over the world on an exciting journey through time: yesterday, today and tomorrow. Prof. Thomas Bauer welcomed the guests and discussed the political circumstances and market environment in which the company currently finds itself, saying that despite a lot of trouble spots, the global economy has demonstrated constant growth. Over 35 equipment exhibits were showcased this year. New machines presented for the first time included the new BG 15 H ValueLine, the BT 50 base carrier, the MC 76, the BG 23 H PremiumLine, the BG 33 H PremiumLine, and the BG 45 with a drilling depth of 36 m (118 ft) using the continuous flight auger drilling method.
