He earned a B.S. in geology from the University of New Hampshire and his M.S. in geology from Virginia Tech. Daniel Stapleton was promoted to senior principal in the Norwood, Mass. office. David Lamothe was promoted to associate principal in the Bedford, N.H. office. He earned a B.S. in civil engineering and M.S. in geotechnical engineering from Tufts University. David E. Leone was promoted to associate principal in the Norwood, Mass. office. He joined GZA in 1998, and his area of focus is on environmental consulting, soil and groundwater remediation, and environmental due diligence. Richard J. Desrosiers was promoted to associate principal in the Glastonbury, Conn. office. His area of specialization is hydrogeology and geology used to remediate soil and groundwater contamination. Desrosiers earned his B.S. in geology from Northeastern University. Matthew Smith, P.E., LSP, was promoted to associate principal in the Norwood, Mass. office. He earned a B.S. in civil engineering from Norwich University, Military College of Vermont and his M.S. in geotechnical and geoenvironmental engineering from Northeastern University. GeoStructures announced the addition of Abiy Ghirmay, EIT, as a design engineer. Bennett has a B.S. in civil engineering from West Virginia University and M.S. degrees from George Washington University and West Virginia University. Jeff Dodson, P.E., was promoted to vice president of Schnabel Foundation Company in the Bethesda, Md. office. Dodson started his career in their Southeast regional office in 1992 as a construction manager. Dave Harris was promoted to vice president and chief financial officer in the Sterling, Va. office. Harris joined Schnabel in 2015 as director of finance and administration. Sponsored by the National Science Foun- dation, the Geotechnical Extreme Events Reconnaissance (GEER) Association organized a reconnaissance team to investigate the 2016 M5.8 Pawnee, Okla. earthquake. The field reconnaissance focused on identifying damage patterns in dams/levees/embankments and along riverbanks (including liquefaction), as well as evaluating the performance of key bridges in the region. On September 27, BAUER-Pileco turned 50 years old and celebrated with a company dinner and gathering of employees, dealers and people that have been an integral part of its success. Otto Kammerer, German-born U.S. entrepreneur, founded Pileco in 1966. The company was acquired in 2005 by BAUER.
