EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR UPDATE HAPPY NEW YEAR! ¡Feliz año nuevo! Gelukkig Nieuwjaar! Bonne année! Frohes neues Jahr! Felice Anno Nuovo! नव वरष् की शभु कामनाए!ँ 新年快乐! DFI has always strived to communicate with our members. And now, with a growing membership — not only in numbers but also in locations around the world — we are taking steps to communicate more often and in new ways with this first of six bimonthly issues of the magazine, as well as an enhanced digital version. Since DFI’s incorporation in 1976, a printed communication has been distributed to the membership, but it has certainly evolved over the years. From a stapled one to two page announcement called Deep Foundation News to a newsletter called Fulcrum, which went from black and white to two color to full color, to our current Deep Foundations Magazine, which has been through design, editorial and production changes in order to bring you the news of the ﺪﻴﻌﺳ ﺪﻳﺪﺟ مﺎﻋ! Feliz Ano Novo! Institute, as well the industry. I am sure that many of you can remember it in all its manifestations. From an in-house production, designed and published by suc- cessive executive directors, to a more polished product, the magazine has been transformed much as you have transformed deserts into cities —think Las Vegas or Dubai! You build bridges in the physical world and we want to connect industry members through the virtual world of media! Essentially our purpose is one. Besides being available in print for those of you who love the feel of paper in your hands, we hope to appeal to our younger members who, with their familiarity and comfort with technology, are more likely to gravitate to the new New DFI Award, New Deadlines DFI’s Bermingham Innovation Award April 15 is the deadline for nominations for a new award named for C.
