Renee Leslie, P.G., is a project manager on New York City’s Metropolitan Transit Authority Independent Engineering Consulting Services. Isabelle Pawlik, P.E., was project engineer and lead tunnel designer on the Bay Tunnel project in San Francisco, Calif., and currently provides engineering support for this project. Rick Vincent, P.E., has led projects with all types of excavation and installation methods. He is the program management structural lead for the Anacostia River Tunnel on the DC Water’s $2.7 billion Clean Rivers Project. The Dieseko Group appointed a new dealer for the optimization of its marketing and technical sales support of its ICE vibro equipment in Colombia. Dieseko already has a long-lasting partnership with the established oil & gas company, Ahow Technologies for the Venezuelan market. At the beginning of 2011, Ahow moved to the centrally-located city of Medellin, Colom- bia. From its headquarters in Medellin, Ahow coordinates the manufacturing, sales and technical support, for both the Venezuelan and Colombian market of deep foundation equipment. Enhanced support is provided through an additional sales office at Bogota. Schnabel Engineering, Inc., Glen Allen, Va., has been ranked 9th on the “Best Civil Engineering Firms to Work For” list by CE News magazine. The criteria used to make the selection included culture, benefits, compensation, performance/recognition, recruiting and employee retention, and profes- sional development, as well as an employee satisfaction survey. Schnabel placed 167th on the Zweig White Hot Firm List, which recognizes the fastest-growing engineering, architecture, planning and environmental consulting firms in the U.S. and Canada. Richard Crockford, district manager, Nicholson, New York, was recently elected a member of The Moles, a heavy construc- tion industry’s organization comprised of individuals who construct tunnels, sub- ways, sewers, foundations, marine or other heavy construction projects. Crockford joins fellow Nicholson Construction Moles members Andrew Walker (president) John Wise (senior vice president) and Ron Hall (corporate construction manager). Liebher r-Werk Nenzing GmbH celebrated its 35th anniversary in October. The festivities started with a ceremony in which representatives from economic and political entities as well as numerous long- time business partners participated. On the second day the company welcomed around 500 customers from all over the world. An open day with over 20,000 visitors concluded the festivities in the Austrian village of Nenzing. CTL Engineering, Inc. was named in Inc. magazine’s 2011 edition of “Inc. 5000,” an annual ranking of America’s fastest-growing private companies, where it placed 3,865 (up from our 2010 ranking of 4362) on a list of 5,000. Formerly known as Columbus Testing Laboratory, CTL was established in 1927 as a private, independent engineer- ing and testing laboratory. Initially, CTL focused mainly on soils, foundation engineering and construction testing and inspection services. Instantel and Brüel & Kjær formed a partnership to provide noise and vibration monitoring services to the construction industry. Instantel is a division of XMark corporation, a part of Stanley works. Buel & Kjaer is a subsidiary of U.K.-based Spectris, and works in 55 countries in a wide range of industries, and has been active for many years providing noise monitoring solutions. The companies announced their partnership last summer. Sales manager for Instantel, Ron Mask, also applauded the partnership. Dan Brown and Associ- ates, PC, announced that D. Michael Holloway, Ph.D., P.E., joined the firm as a senior foun- dation engineer. Dr. Holloway is a recognized expert in driven pile foundation design and dynamic testing, in-situ testing, instrumentation and earthquake engineering. His over 40 years of foundation and geotechnical engineering experience includes stints at the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Waterways Experiment Station (WES) in Vicksburg, Miss., and Woodward-Clyde Consultants in Oakland, Calif. He founded InsituTech in 1982, which specialized in engineering deep foundations and applying in-situ soil testing methods in foundation engineering. Dr. Holloway earned his B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees in Civil Engineering at Duke University. He is an active member of ASCE and DFI, and served DFI as Testing and Evaluations Committee Chair and as a Trus- tee. He was a contributing author to the first edition of the FHWA manual on the Design and Construction of Driven Pile Foundations.
