PEOPLE & COMPANIES Hayward Baker Inc. announced that Robert A. Carnevale joined the company as business development manager at its regional office in Metro Seattle, Wash. His territory includes Wash- ington, Oregon and Idaho, plus Alaska and the Western Canadian provinces of Alberta and British Columbia. Carnevale earned his B.S. and M.S. degrees in civil engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, N.Y. Currently, he serves on the board of directors of ADSC, and as chair of the ADSC Soil Mixing Committee, and has co- chaired the ADSC-DFI Joint Micropile Committee. He is also a member of the ISM. Jacobs Associates is pleased to announce the following promotions to the senior and lead associate levels. Norman Joyal, P.E., GE, was promoted to senior associate at the Walnut Creek office in California. He has spent 20 years of his 30+ year career focusing on trench- less designs and evaluations for water and wastewater projects performing geotech- nical engineering investigations. This includes the San Francisco Department of Public Work’s Northshore Force Main that extends through San Francisco’s financial district and Embarcadero. Joel Kantola, P.E., is now a senior asso- ciate in the Boston office. He has worked on many projects, including dredg- ing, waterfront bulk- heads, highways, mass transit, wastewater treatment and water supply. He currently serves as a project manager on the DC Clean Rivers Program in Washington D.C. Blake Rothfuss, P.E., DWRE, was promoted to senior associate, based in the Walnut Creek office. For more than 30 years Rothfuss has applied his combined experience in water resources and hydroelect r ic planning, des ign, construction and asset management, to successfully deliver critical infrastructure and business projects ranging in size and complexity. Chris Burke is now a lead associate in the Boston office. He has 20 years of progressive experience in engineering, construction, project management and forensic construction. He currently provides claims consulting services on a variety of projects throughout the U.S. Tom Hennings, P.E., was also promoted to lead associate in the Boston office. He has more than 20 years of structural experience, and for nearly 15 years has specialized in underground projects involving tunnels, underpinning and deep excavation support systems. John Murray, P.E., another new lead associate, works from the New York City office. He consults on a broad range of tunneling projects spanning mass transit, highway, water and wastewater tunnels. Murray’s experience includes preliminary design, final design and design support during construction. Presently, he is the project manager for the Catskill Aqueduct Repair and Rehabilitation Project. Jacobs Associates also promoted Rick Vincent, P.E., to lead associate in the Cleveland office. He has applied his tunnel and structural design experience to managing and designing large underground projects of all types. He manages the Cleveland office and serves as project manager for the City of Akron’s Ohio Canal Interceptor Tunnel project. Digga North America, a manufacturer and designer of auger, anchor and foundation drive systems for high flow construction tool carriers, has named Vearl Collins as its vice president, general manager. Collins was the founder and owner of Entek Manufacturing, a San Antonio, Texas- based company that sold and manufac- tured tractor attachments for the heavy equipment industry. He was CEO of Entek from 1984 to 2005 when he sold the company to a private equity group, but remained CEO until 2008, when it was sold to Rockland Manufacturing. During his tenure with Entek he built the company into a preferred vendor for Caterpillar, John Deere, Komatsu and other equipment dealer groups. Gannett Fleming, Harris- burg, Pa., reorganized its Ea r th S c i enc e and Hydraulics Unit to meet the group’s growing prac- tice. Paul J. Lewis, P.E., is the business unit man- ager, Paul G. Schweiger, P.E., CFM, is the dams and hydraulics leader, and Trent L. Dreese, P.E., is now geotechnical leader. Lewis has 30 years of experience with the management and tech- nical review of subsurface investigations, landfill designs, dams and earth structures design, and is responsible for managing the unit. Schweiger has 30 years of experience and expertise in many areas of water resource management. He has provided engineering services on more than 300 dams and is a nationally recognized leader in his field. Dreese has 25 years of experience and is responsible for managing and technical review of geotechnical activities, including foundations for transportation facilities and buildings, landfills, dams, earth retaining structures, rock and earth stability, and ground modification techniques.
