DFI People and Companies Atlas Copco’s newly- formed Construction Tech- nique business unit has a new service division for the construction, demoli- tion and road construc- tion industries. Matt Cadnum, vice president of the Atlas Copco Construction Technique Service USA, described the unit’s 24-hour tech support hotline and 14 existing Atlas Copco stores, and announced that the new division has opened five ISO 18001 certified refurbishment and service centers in the U.S. J ami e Ro u s h wa s promoted to the position of parts and service sales specialist at Atlas Copco Construction Equipment. He reports directly to Matt Cadnum. Roush was most recently an e-commerce program manager, and he was heavily involved in the mergers of Atlas Copco Hur r i c ane and por t abl e compressors into the Construction Equipment business line. Roush will work out of the Atlas Copco Construction Equipment office in Independence, Ohio. Stephen Nelson was appointed bus ines s development manager at Atlas Copco Construction Equipment, Commerce City, Colo. He reports to Erik Sparby, president and general manager of Atlas Copco Construction Equipment. Nelson has more than 20 years of sales and management experience working in the construction equipment and rental industry. He will work out of his home office in Atlanta. Einar Brønlund is the head of management for Aker Wirth, a subsidiary of the international oil service company Aker Solutions. He succeeds Christoph Kleuters, who is leaving the company at his own request. Brønlund has been with the company since 2009. As CFO he has made a substantial contribution to setting the company on course for further growth. Anthony DeVito, P.E., and Frederick R. Rhyner, P.E., were named senior associates at Mueser Rutledge Consulting Engineers, New York, N.Y. earlier this year. DeVito, a structural engineer, has been with MRCE since 1989. His special focus is in marine engineering, waterfront structures, and the analysis and design of structural platforms and related systems for piers, sheet pile bulkheads, marine berthing systems and pedestrian access to the shore. Rhyner, a geotech- nical engineer, joined MRCE in 2004 as an associate. He has three decades of experience in the design, design man- agement and construction management of foundations for a wide variety of projects for transportation, building structures, water resources and industrial facilities. Fred has a B.E. from Stevens Institute and an MSCE from Purdue University. He is an active member of DFI, serving as chairman of its Drilled Shaft Committee for 9 years, and other industry groups. William Murphy, P.E., Schnabel Engineering, Inc. (Schnabel), Glen Allen, Va., was inducted to the inaugural class of the American Council of Engineering Companies Metropolitan Washington (ACEC/MW) College of Fellows. With nearly 50 years of geotechnical design experience, Murphy’s expertise includes a broad range of projects throughout the U.S., Africa, Canada and Europe. Murphy was the senior geotechnical reviewer and advisor for the projects Schnabel supported for the Washington-Dulles International Airport underground Aerotrain system, as well as many commercial office building development projects. Professor Robert V. Whitman S.M. ’49, Sc.D. ’51, a world-renowned geotechnical engineer and expert on earthquakes in MIT’s Depar tment of Civi l and Environmental Engineering (CEE), died February 25 at age 84. With the exception of two years spent in military service, he was with CEE from 1948 until his retirement in 1993, and he remained an active member of the MIT community for many more years as a professor emeritus. CTL Engineering, Inc. (CTL) announced that Kevin Reichert is the new vice president of CTL Engineering of Ohio, and officer of the corporation as decided by the board late last year. In his 25 years with CTL, Reichert has been instrumental in the establishment and growth of the Wapakoneta office in northwest Ohio. Dennis W. Boehm was pro- moted to vice president, Hayward Baker. He is con- tinuing in his role as the chief engineer for the com- pany’s Central Region, where he heads up a team of specialists responsible for the design and estimating of various ground improvement projects in the region’s challenging soil profiles. He is based out of the company’s Gulf Coast Area Office in Houston, Texas. Boehm has over 25 years of engineering design, supervision and onsite project management experience. He has been with Hayward Baker since 1990. Prior to his most recent promotion, Boehm served as a chief engineer as well as an area manager for the company’s Central Region, where he has been involved in many noteworthy ground improvement initiatives. These include projects for Houston International Airport; Corpus Christi Naval Air Station; Cottonwood Power in Beau- mont, Texas; and Kraft Foods in Russell- ville, Ark., to name a few. Prior to joining Hayward Baker in 1990, Boehm worked for PRESCON Corporation in the heavy con- struction industry. He holds a B.S. degree in civil engineering from Texas A&M University.
