HB Wick Drains, a Division of Hayward Baker Inc., promoted Kevin C. Wikar as area manager for the Eastern United States. Based in Odenton, Md., near Baltimore, the office serves all states east of the Mississippi River. Most recently, Wikar was a project manager for Hayward Baker in the Mid- Atlantic region and managed numerous foundation and ground improvement projects since 2006. Formerly, Wikar was with URS Corporation and was assigned as a resident engineer on the $2.4 billion Woodrow Wi lson Bridge project (Washington, D.C.). Wikar is a licensed P.E. in Maryland and Texas, and is an active member of the American Society of Civil Engineers and the Deep Foundations Institute. He holds a B.S. degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Massachusetts Lowell and an M.S. degree in Ocean Engineering (Geotechnical) from the University of Rhode Island. In June 2010, Hayward Baker Inc. acquired the wick drain and earthquake drain assets of Nilex Civil Environmental Group. Renamed HB Wick Drains, it operates as a product- specific division of Hayward Baker Inc. Tom Umscheid was appointed as technical trainer for Atlas Copco’s new Mining and Rock Exc ava t ion Se r vi c e division. Umscheid will be responsible for operator and mechanical training throughout the division. He served the past six years as a product support technician and product specialist in Atlas Copco’s Rock Drilling Tools business line and had worked in sales in the company’s Rocky Mountain store. Geo-Solutions recently combined the oper- ations of the company with those of Geo- Con of Monroeville, Pa. This agreement creates an even larger specialty geoenviron- mental contractor that will provide solu- tions to soil and groundwater problems. Both Geo-Con and Geo-Solutions offer a wide range of specialized construction techniques including slurry wall construction, soil mixing, jet grouting and general site remediation. Typical projects involve levee repairs, dam upgrades, soft soil improvement, and remediation of soil and groundwater at former industrial sites. Major industrial firms such as oil and chemical companies as well as various government agencies are clients of both companies. Expected combined 2012 revenues are more than $85 million. Geo-Solutions has consistently grown over the years and has become widely recognized as a technical leader in its field, using a fleet of highly-specialized equipment and skilled field forces. The company is headquartered in New Kensington, Pa. The firm has been oper- ating across the U.S. and internationally, with significant projects in Australia and Canada. More recently, Geo-Solutions has signed joint operating agreements with partners in China and Brazil. Geo-Con has over 30 years of experience in the industry and is well known for their capabilities in the environmental field. Geo-Con specializes in the containment and stabilization of hazardous wastes, and the soil and groundwater impacted by these wastes. Tommy Cardiff is now a sales engineer, oil and gas, for Atlas Copco Portable Energy equipment. Before coming to Atlas Copco, Cardiff was the regional sales manager for Midland Air Services. He has been involved in equipment sales, service and rentals for the oil and gas and construction industries for nearly 20 years. Based out of Houston, Texas, Cardiff’s main focus in his new role will be to develop sales of air and gas compressors, boosters and other portable energy equipment to the oil and gas market in the Houston area. Atlas Copco has announced the appointments of two new managers in its Ludlow, Mass., store. Andy Rivet has accepted the position of store manager and Cory Lapan will take over in Rivet’s former position as service manager at that location. Rivet will oversee the Surface Drilling Equipment, Drilling Solutions, Geotechnical Drilling and Exploration (GDE) and Dynapac product lines. Lapan joined Atlas Copco in February 2006, and served as a field technician at the Atlas Copco–Ludlow service center. Victor Coetzer is now the business development manager, store channel, for Atlas Copco CMT USA’s Mining and Rock Excavation Technique Service division and is based in Commerce City, Colo. Coetzer has held various positions within Atlas Copco since joining the company in 2003 as a solutions developer for Atlas Copco in South Africa. Since joining Atlas Copco CMT USA in 2010, Coetzer has worked as a financial analyst and assistant business controller.
