PEOPLE & COMPANIES David Alan Yingling, vice president of Ape- Vibro, died of cancer in January, at the age of 45. He was born in Van- couver, Washington, and spent his entire working career with American Pile Driving Equipment, Inc. He is survived by his wife, Lindsey Jo Joy, his father, Donald Raymond Yingling, his two sisters, and his children, Megan Ashley Yingling, 23, Kelsey Noel Wolfinger, 21, and David Alan Yingling, Jr., 9 months. He is also survived by a grandson, Renton Jamie Hazard, 5. A fund has been set up for David Alan Yingling, Jr., and contributions should go to APE-Vibro, with checks made out to David Alan Yingling. Schnabel Engineering, Inc., Glen Allen, Va., opened an office in Ral- eigh, N.C. The new office will focus its efforts on providing all of Schnabel’s services, with local personnel having extensive geotechnical and environmental engineering experience. Nigel Miller, P.E., an associate with the firm, is the manager of the new office. He has more than 15 years of experience in transportation, energy and infrastructure projects, including work for North Carolina Department of Transpor- tation, Progress Energy and major univer- sities in the area. Miller has experience on highway bridges, roadway pavements, airport runways, retaining structures, high- rise buildings, earth dams, energy transmission lines and large-diameter pipelines. He has managed, reviewed and performed design and construction phase engineering duties for projects with techni- cal challenges such as soft soils, deep exca- vations, high seismic loads, landslides, dewatering, corrosion and rock excavation. Specialty Construction Techniques for Dam and Levee Remediation was recently published by Spon Press, an imprint of Taylor and Francis. The book illustrates the wide range of specialty geotechnical construction techniques used to remediate dams and levees in North America, including drilling and grouting, deep mixing, cut-off walls and rock anchoring. Other chapters summarize instrumen- tation concepts, address the U.S. market and highlight “lessons learned.” For each subject, the book describes the current state of practice and includes numerous case histories. The emphasis is on major projects completed in the last decade, reflecting the unparalleled levels of activity in the remedial field during that period in the U.S. and Canada. Schultz comes to the Olson companies with a wealth of experience in the A/E/C industry. He joins Olson Engineering in the Manassas, Va., branch office, created in 2011 to help address affects caused by the aging infrastructure on bridges, dams, roads, buildings, tunnels and other civil works. Nondestructive Evaluation (NDE) plays an important role in addressing public safety and long-term viability of infrastructure assets critical to our economic and social well-being. Derek Boese is now vice president overseeing PSI’s New Orleans operations. He earned his B.A. in Civil Engineering from Rice University, a M.S. in Engineering Management from the University of Missouri-Rolla, and his J.D. from Loyola University, New Orleans. He has over 17 years of industry experience. PSI also announced the promotion of Royce Parker to vice president of the firm’s National Sales Group. He is responsible for new national clients and impact projects. Parker earned his Associate of Science in Sales and Marketing from Davenport University, Grand Rapids, Mich., and is located in PSI’s Cypress operations office. He has been with PSI since January 2011. Joel Walter, P.E., was promoted to district manager overseeing PSI’s operations in Grand Rapids, Kalamazoo, Lansing and Saginaw, Mich. A graduate of Michigan State University with a B.S. in Civil Engineering, he is located in the firm’s Lansing operations office and has been with PSI since 1990. Jeff Martineau, certified hazardous materials manager, has been promoted to senior vice president overseeing PSI’s Cons t ruct ion, Geotechnical and Environmental services in the Orlando area. Martineau is a graduate of the State University of New York with a B.A. in Environmental Science, and has been with PSI since 1993. Pengo Corporation appointed Kent Upton as business development manager. In his new role, he will be responsible for leading and directing Pengo’s business develop- ment functions. This will include main- taining the company’s marketing strategies, directing the North American sales team and developing new business relationships in North America.
